"UPI Rules Changing from 1 August: Here's What You Must Know!"

We have knew that UPI is a important part of digital India,This new evolution of system the people make very easy transaction in every sector like market, school, Corporate Office,etc. NPCI’s August 1 rule changes primarily focus on limiting redundant API calls (like balance checks and autopay executions) to reduce server overload, enforce better system design, and ultimately ensure users experience faster, more reliable UPI transactions—even during peak demand.
But excessive use of UPI make system overload over million of user does transaction in every second.
So,NPCI(which is authority who managed the UPI system) announced some new rule for avoiding the system overload to protect the spam or damages.
There have some points where you should be beware while using the UPI app like GPay, Phonepe,etc.
1. Balance Check Limit
Users can check account balance only up to 50 times per UPI app in a 24‑hour period. This applies separately across apps (e.g. PhonePe, GPay)
2.Linked Bank account Check
You can verify which bank is linked to your UPI ID only 25 times per day.
3. Autopay Mandate Timing Rule
Recurring UPI AutoPay like OTT, SIP, or insurance will be executed only during designated non-peak hours:

Before 10 AM,

1 PM–5 PM,

After 9:30 PM
Payments will be blocked during peak hours (10 AM–1 PM & 5 PM–9:30 PM)
4. Transaction Status Check
Each transaction’s status can be queried only 3 times, with a minimum 90‑second gap between checks.
5. Automatic Balance After Every Payment
Banks must now display account balance after every UPI payment, reducing the need for manual balance inquiries.
